I was fortunate to get away for an extended Labor Day Weekend. I went up to the White Mountains, to a small town called Overgaard. It's located maybe 30 miles west of Show Low. On the drive out there you see the charred remains of trees killed by previous forest fires. But in fact, the Forest Service was also performing prescribed burns. The fires that kill the existing vegetation actually start a whole new growth cycle. There are predominantly juniper and pine trees in the area. It's a beautiful setting! I spent time enjoying the peace and quiet... the simple pace... the friendly locals... the cooler temperatures... the BEAUTIFUL scenery... and more. So, I ask YOU...... where do you go when you like to get away from it all? Where is your special place?
